I registered our domain today, RainbowNomads.org.
You may ask… why?
Well, there are a lot of social platforms out there, and we all have our favorites… Facebook, Meetup, RVillage, forums, etc. There are pros and cons to each of these resources.
By maintaining a home here, we can easily link to any outside resources that we find useful.
It would be very time consuming to effectively maintain all of these resources. As we evolve as a group, we will learn what works for us all.
I personally consider Facebook a necessary evil of sorts. I do not use it for person posts or interactions, but it allows me to keep in touch with groups where other users share beneficial information.
RVillage is a growing platform with some promising features, including the ability to mark your current location. However, the layout and ads can be a bit distracting.
I am a fan of forums. They can be an excellent resource, allowing you to search for the information you need without an overload of advertising. I regularly use Bob Wells’s Cheap RV Living Forum. We may find a forum like this beneficial to us in the future.
